Today is International Francophonie Day throughout the French-speaking world. Come celebrate tonight at Cité des Arts (109 Vine Street, downtown Lafayette) with scenes from the 1971 documentary “L’Acadie, l’Acadie,” followed by an open discussion about “franco-responsabilité” and activism with key actors in the Louisiana francophone movement. “L’Acadie, l’Acadie” documents the Université de Moncton students’ movement at the end of the 60s as they sought linguistic rights for French-speakers in New Brunswick, Canada.

The event start at 6:30pm. It is free and open to the public. I will be there and hope to see many of you!

The New Bank of Abbeville, Maurice Branch

The new Maurice Branch of the Bank of Abbeville opened recently. It is on Maurice Avenue right across from the church.

For a couple of days this past week, while they were tearing down the old building, the only thing standing was the vault.

Maurice has changed quite a bit since I moved here in 15 years ago. I love our little town and we have some of the best food around with Villager’s Cafe serving the best poor-boys in Acadiana and Hebert’s Specialty Meat famous for its stuffed deboned chickens and poultry.

Thinking about selling your home in Maurice? Let me know as I have many clients wanting to move here and waiting for the right property to come along.

Happy New Year! Bonne Année 2013

As the sun rises on a new year, I want to wish every one of you a wonderful 2013 filled with health, love, success!

 Sunrise october

I apoligize for not writing those wishes sooner and I know it’s been quiet here for the past couple of weeks. I’m sorry. One of my resolution for this year is to write more and so I started doing research and writing in December and that, coupled with being really busy with real estate and working on finishing the renovations in an investment property, has triggered an old injury to come back in my neck and shoulder. As much as it pains me not to write right now, it pains more to simply think about sitting down and typing.

Nevertheless, I look forward to 2013 for several reasons and I hope you do, too. I will be back soon with numbers in review for 2012 and lots of other great stuff, too.

I’m working with several buyers right now as it is still a great time to buy. However, some of them cannot find what they are looking for. If you are thinking about selling, let me know. I might just have a buyer for your home!
